Reclaim started in 2004 and since then we have helped over 10,000 low income families to furnish and improve their homes. We have also saved over 500 tonnes of household goods and several thousand of litres of paint from going to landfill.
Our main aim is collect good quality unwanted furniture, and to sell and deliver it to people on low incomes. The money raised is used to cover our operational costs, as despite being a charitable project, we nevertheless have to pay a commercial rent and run three vans. .
We aim to provide good quality furniture at prices to suit all pockets, which is important to us as we are a not-for-profit Registered Charity. We are staffed mainly by volunteers which allows us to keep prices as low as possible. We regularly check other charity furniture shops in Cheltenham and Gloucester to make sure we are the most competitive.
Our shop is open to anyone Monday-Saturday between the hours of 9.30-4.30 for people to come and view or buy household items such as beds and bedroom furniture; settees and chairs; dining room tables and chairs, white goods including washing machines, tumble dryers, electric cookers, fridges and fridge freezers, as well as other types of small electrical goods. In addition to furniture, we also sell paint at a discount price and we recondition and sell bicycles.
Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and are often long-term unemployed or have issues which has made finding a job difficult. We have provided training in a safe working environment to over 250 volunteers since we started, many of whom have developed skills and regained their confidence and gone on to gain jobs and live independently.
We are so proud of our volunteers, they have worked tirelessly are the cornerstone of the Reclaim success story.
